Shooting Script

This shooting schedule outlines the different times and days we plan to shoot each scene. We plan to conduct only one day of shooting, completing the filming of all scenes.

The schedule also involves a list of characters for each scene, allowing us to manage our cast easily and effectively.

Location Planning

This is the setting to my horror movie, the location where the entire shoot will take place. The house was specifically chosen as a stereotypically normal house, one that the vast demographic can really relate to. Chosing a setting the audince can relate to is key in my view, as the realism portrayed can lead to a lasting horror that lingers with people - a successful horror movie. Locations such as the set of Jaws do not have this sense of lasting fear as these dwell on situations that can be avoided, rather than the terror through the association of fear with everyday life.

The set will be furnished as a normal house and lit in the same way, a high amount of filter lights to create a 'homely' feel. This lulls the viewer into a false sense of security, adding to the climactic effect upon the first signs of horror, i.e the presence and initial attack of the antagonist. In theory, this will complement the high use of handheld camera shots and promote realism throughout the film.

A location such as this can be seen in many horror classics such as and Scream, Paranormal Activity and The Strangers.

Script

The script begins with little introduction of characters, as they are monster fodder we intended for them to have little depth of character. Lauren, the antagonist, has noteably shorter lines than the other characters. This, along with her stage directions, will hopefully create the portrayal of a mysterious antagonist.

The pointless conversation will, in theory, act as a distractor on the presence of the antagonist, making the initial scare more effective. Stage directions show the final scene to be dramatic and shocking, hopefully the dialouge of the characters will add to the feel and development of a sense of horror in this film.

Initial Planning

Group and Job roles

Directors: Ashley Jones, Jack Meechan

The role of director will be shared between our group. This means our respective inputs will be equal, giving us each equal ownership over the product.

Editing: Ashley Jones, Jack Meechan

We will share this role to gain ownership, though i will take the main role as i have skills in music technology and can edit the sound to our piece well.

Script: Jack Meechan
As I was set to take on most of the editorial duties, we felt it right to bestow the role of script writer on my fellow group member. Jack enjoys creative writing and is currently studying toward an English Literature A level in which he is studying plays, so he is more than capable of this duty.
